Monday 30 July 2012

The next screening will be on Thursday 2nd August commencing at 9pm, as usual at the lovely Lumiere.

Last week's film Ghost Dance proved to be a success and we will be continuing our European Cinema tour with another British film gem, Michael Powell's Black Narcissus (1947).

Sister Clodagh and her four 'co-nuns' take over a convent in the Himalayan mountains. During their time there tension arises, especially with the arrival of the hunky Mr. Dean. Michael Powell's quietly humorous approach to the novel of the same name is fantastic.

Encounters With The Obscure is looking forward to seeing all of you there.

No admission fee and free popcorn.

Encounters With the Obscure is back from its summer break and will be starting a new series of weekly film screenings at the Lumiere.

The new programme will be exploring European Cinema starting with films from the UK and subsequently continues with the rest of Europe.

The very first screening will be Thursday 26th July commencing at 9pm at the lovely Lumiere on Chatsworth Road.

Ghost Dance (1983) by British filmmaker Ken McMullen is an independent film about our conceptions of ghosts, communicated through the experiences of two fictional characters. Additionally the film focuses on French philosopher Jacques Derrida who evaluates his theories on the subject.

No admission fee and free popcorn because Encounters With The Obscure loves cinema and the unique experience that comes with every film.
